The Faculty of History of Art and Intercultural Communication was created in 2012 and brought together several institute-wide academic departments to become a leading research, educational, training, study and social centre.
In 2012-2013, the new faculty was headed by Doctor of Philology, Prof. Igor Chekulai.
In 2013-2014, Doctor of Philosophy, Ass. Prof. Sergey Borisov was elected the Dean of the Faculty.
In 2015, Roman Dunaev, PhD followed him as head of the faculty.
The youngest of all our faculties, we carry on the over 50-year-old traditions established by our founders, respected masters and administrators in Culture, gifted teachers of the 20th century’s Humanities and Social Sciences who educated and trained numerous cultural workers of the Belgorod region.
Through our Faculty, working within the traditions of the Institute’s leading departments for theoretical studies, the Faculty of History of Art and Intercultural Communication aims to develop in graduates a growth mindset, a fundamental knowledge, a critical understanding of subject form, content and cultural context. The faculty teaching staff is highly professional, and includes well-known scientists, actively involved in research as well as teaching, united by their creativity and professional integrity. The Faculty’s teaching and learning strategy is delivered through three-level system of education: bachelor degree, master’s degree, postgraduate research degree.

The Faculty is keen to foster and grow international collaboration with international educational institutions and universities abroad; among our partners are Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Buenos Aires (Argentina), University of La Punta (Argentina), University of Indonesia, which provides exchange education programmes agreed upon by its partner universities.
Apart from teaching and learning activities, the Faculty devotes major efforts to share Russian heritage and to promote the Russian language, learning and interest, abroad. We cooperate with RUDN’s Lifelong Learning Institute for teachers of Russian as a second language.
We work in close coordination with Moscow State University of Culture and Arts, Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia (St. Petersburg), Belgorod National Research University, Moscow State Pedagogical University, Krasnodar State University of Culture and Arts, V.N. Karazin Kharkov National University (Ukraine).
The Faculty’s educators eagerly communicate with their colleagues from Russia and abroad and actively participate in both country-wide and international conferences, forums, and academic meetings.
